The Cervecería Barranquilla was founded on 10 April 1913 and put Águila on the market the same month; from 1933 it brewed Águila alone. In 1967 Julio Mario Santo Domingo took over the Cervecería de Barranquilla y Bolívar, which became Cervecería Águila S.A. and part of the Bavaria group.
