How it works
Founded in 1711 by the farmer John Morland at West Ilsley, Berkshire; it moved to Abingdon in the 1880s and was renamed United Breweries in 1885 and Morland again around 1944. Old Speckled Hen was created in 1979 for the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon. Greene King bought it in 1999-2000, closed the Abingdon brewery and moved Old Speckled Hen and Ruddles to Bury St Edmunds. unverified info
