Founded in Panevėžys in 1902 by Albert Foigt as Bergschlößchen, named Kalnapilis ("castle on the hill") in 1918. Nationalised in 1940; Biržų alus was part of it from 1973 to 1996. Privatised in 1992, Baltic Beverages Holding from 1994, Royal Unibrew from 2001. Merged with Vilniaus Tauras in 2003; Tauras beer has been brewed in Panevėžys since its Vilnius brewery closed. unverified info
