Czechia The Burghers' Brewery of Plzeň (Bürgerliches Brauhaus), decided on by the burghers on 2 January 1839 and built from 1839 to 1842. Its Bavarian brewer Josef Groll brewed the first batch on 5 October 1842, the first pilsner, later Pilsner Urquell.
