Brewing in Humpolec goes back to 1597, when the brewery of the Herálec estate began. Nationalised after the war and run down, it was bought in the small privatisation on 26 October 1991 by Stanislav Bernard, Josef Vávra and Rudolf Šmejkal, and became the family brewery Bernard.
