How it works
The Brain family bought an old Cardiff brewery in 1882; the firm became S.A. Brain & Co Ltd in 1897. It took over Crown Buckley of Llanelli in 1997 and Hancock's in 1999, moved to the former Hancock's brewery in 2000, and in March 2019 opened the Dragon Brewery at Tremorfa. It sold 95 pubs to Song Capital in 2022 and by 2024 described itself as debt-free. Brands: Brains Bitter, SA, Rev. James, Red Dragon. unverified info
