How it works
Formed in July 1947 with Sir Gerald Wight, chairman of Alston and Company, as chairman, to build a brewery and a glassworks and so lessen Trinidad's dependence on sugar and oil; the brewery started with seven employees. It is the company behind Carib Brewery: the Ministry of Trade calls it Caribbean Development Company Limited (CDC) / Carib Brewery. Bought Walters's Trinidad Brewing Company (Royal Lion Ale, Royal Extra Stout, Black Velvet Stout) in 1957; the Pola Beer trademark was assigned to it in 1961. Part of the ANSA McAL Group. unverified info
