Syria State brewery of Damascus, founded in 1977, of the General Organisation for Food Industries; Barada beer, a 3.4% pale lager. Production stopped in 2011 with the civil war; the brewery in Qudsaya, west of Damascus, was set on fire in 2012 and its lines destroyed. Not rebuilt: in 2019 the site was offered for a tourism project and its tanks moved to the al-Sharq brewery of Aleppo. unverified info
