Country: gb United Kingdom

Formed in 1966 when J. & R. Tennent of the Wellpark Brewery in Glasgow, bought by Charrington United Breweries in 1963, merged with United Caledonian Breweries; brewing was concentrated at Wellpark and the Heriot Brewery in Edinburgh, which was demolished in the 1990s. It passed to Bass Charrington in 1967 and to Interbrew in June 2000. C&C Group of Ireland bought the company and the Tennent's brand from AB InBev in 2009 (announced 27 August 2009). Tennent's Lager has been brewed at Wellpark since 1885 and holds about 60% of the Scottish lager market. unverified info
