Türkiye Türk Tuborg Bira ve Malt Sanayii A.Ş. was founded in 1967 at Pınarbaşı, İzmir, as a joint venture of Carlsberg and Yaşar Holding, the first Tuborg brewery outside Denmark; production began in 1969. Carlsberg agreed in 2001 to raise its stake to 50.01%, held 95.6% by 2008 and sold it to Israel's CBC Group that year, with Carlsberg and some Tuborg brands brewed on licence. In 2000 it had a 22% share of the Turkish market. The plant at Işıkkent, Bornova, has its own maltings.
