How it works
Started in 1983 by Paddy Glenny on the old Clinch's Eagle Brewery site in Witney, Oxfordshire, as the Glenny Brewery. Ian Rogers bought it in 1990 and named it after the nearby Wychwood Forest; Hobgoblin, first brewed in 1988, became its main beer. It was bought by Refresh UK in 2002 and by Marston's in 2008, and in 2020 Marston's brewing merged with Carlsberg UK into Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company. That company announced the closure of the Witney brewery in September 2023 and closed it in November 2023; Hobgoblin and the other Wychwood beers are brewed elsewhere in its network, such as Burton upon Trent. unverified info
