How it works
Founded in 1831 when Charles Allen Young and Anthony Fothergill Bainbridge bought the Ram Brewery in Wandsworth, London, a site where brewing is recorded from 1576 and which Young's claimed as Britain's oldest in continuous use. The company announced the closure of the Ram Brewery on 23 May 2006; chairman John Young died on 17 September 2006 during the final brew and the brewery closed on 25 September 2006. Brewing moved to the Eagle Brewery in Bedford under Wells & Young's Brewing Company, in which Young's held 40% until August 2011. Young's, still listed, now runs a pub estate. Brands: Young's Bitter (Ordinary), Special, Double Chocolate Stout, Waggle Dance. unverified info
