## About

The Lion Brewery (Ceylon) Ltd. was formed in 1996 as a subsidiary of The Ceylon Brewery Ltd., the Nuwara Eliya company that had brewed Lion since the 1950s; Carlsberg took 25% that year and the company was listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange in 1997. It opened a new brewery at Biyagama near Colombo in 1998 and closed the Nuwara Eliya plant in 2001. Part of Carson Cumberbatch; it bought Millers Brewery (Three Coins, Sando Stout) on 30 October 2014 and opened an Innovation Brewery in December 2024. Lion Lager, Lion Stout, Lion Strong, Carlsberg (under licence since 1992) and Guinness (since 2021).
